Changes and improvements

You may have heard that some things have changed, or some rumors.
Well, there have been some changes and there are some rumors. I've sold natures express, as my time to devote to the project has been "slim-to-none" for the last couple of years. Three people were laid off, not fired as some suggested. New management has taken quite a bit of flack for no valid reason. I understand that the employees were angry, but in the restaurant business anger is generally not a sentiment to "take public" but I appreciated all who worked hard under my employ.

There were no qualified candidates to hand off management to from within, as my head chef turned the job down. I found some buyers who are dedicated to my vision of sustainable healthy vegan food. Their choice of management is excellent, and the people from Donut Farm (Pepples Vegan Donuts) serve some of the best non-gmo vegan food in the state as well as run a 100% organic vegan bakery.
Pepples is an Alameda county certified green business, as Natures' Express hopes to be soon.
I hope to encourage all who enjoy the food at Natures' Express to encourage Mr. Levine and his team as they forge ahead, and make my vision an economically sustainable one for the first time.

Please continue to support the restaurant, as our recipes, food, vision, and mission is indeed the same.
Onward and upward, all of us, and God save the kale!

Dr. Myers

  1. I think the whole change of ownership/management could have been handled a much better way and with more respect to the amazing folks who worked there. The staff at NE brought us back just as much as the food. Both my husband and I have been blocked from posting on the NE facebook page for expressing our disappointment. We were loyal customers from day one and to be shut out and dismissed is totally uncalled for. I'm sure this post will get taken down as well. We're all for healthy vegan options and supporting local businesses, but we can't go back after what we've seen and experienced.

    1. Please, tell me what it is that you experienced that took you from "loyal customers" to "never going back". What did you see and experience?

    2. Wow. That comment was a shame.

I was all for giving Nature's Express another shot until reading these snide remarks. That passive aggressive tone is definitely not the recipe for success. It's a shame to see criticism is taken with such defense.

Natures Express has always been a great atmosphere. I sincerely hope your pretentious demeanor doesn't bring it down. Best of luck.

    3. Criticism that is factually-based will be taken seriously.
So, anonymous, when was the last time you ate at Natures Express?

  2. Dr. Myers, I was a regular NE customer since you opened in 2010. NE used to be a great restaurant w/great food, friendly servers, & a very pleasant environment. Since J. Levine took over the food has deteriorated & is tasteless & sloppy & is not made as previously; the prices went up; the servers are unfriendly & clueless; the wonderful former employees are gone; & the atmosphere is barren & cold. Read the Yelp reviews to see the truth. JL appears to be a controlling, rigid, narrow-minded, & unkind person who demoted former employees & decreaed their salary. He seems to have poor business ethics & seems to only care about making money & not care about people. JL is so insecure & angry that he removed our comments & blocked us from posting on his FB page. Most regular customers & I support the boycott. I (& many people) will never return to eat at NE. I don't believe what you said in your statement above & you are colluding w/JL.

    1. Dear anonymous commenter,
are you aware that everybody quit natures express? what are you attacking the new manager and attempting to discredit them? And, if you have the time, explain here why you think that a business should host negative comments and lies on their Facebook page? If you really are a customer of Natures Express, or were, and you believe all of this, then perhaps you are interested in a bridge I have for sale...

  3. It's speechless what a phony you are Myers. You seem of very similar ilk as the CEO of Whole Paycheck. A hitchhiker to the bandwagon of health, which you understand but a sliver. Real health is about all of us supporting one another, the strong in support of the weak, knowing that it is the weak that is the source of strength. Without full consideration and compassion for those you affect, you are left with nothing but sickness.

    1. This is a good one- OK, you are killing me here. Comparing Carl to John Mackey? I don't see it... For one, Whole Foods makes money. And you are saying a MF DOCTOR don't know health? are you smoking the rock? I'm just a stupid old donut lord, and all, but srsly fool, Dr. Carl paid everybody bills for years and this is how you treat him? Thats f'd up.

  4. Consider this an open forum to comment. I won't pull down comments here. Only respond. There are a lot of opinions out there, but when we took over Natures Express there were some things that DID happen, and some things that DID NOT
